Now we know that money sent home by workers in the diaspora is the largest source of external financing in low- and middle-income countries – but what about human capital(skills) transfer?
Our project was inspired by innovative ideas from sharing economy and open innovation. We are also inspired, by how Indian professionals and IT specialists in diaspora had stimulated growth of, one of the fastest growing innovation hub in the world at Bangalore.
Brief Description of the Project
We believe by utilising the power of sharing economy, open innovation, and digitalisation our innovative solution could be a world leading platform for channeling the under-utilised knowledge, skills, & expertise of professionals in the diaspora. Our platform hopes to encourage professionals in the diaspora to share their professional knowledge or expertise to lift poor and deprived communities from around the world. The platform could be a gateway for underprivileged communities to access world class affordable professional knowledge, skills, educational resources.
What societal need does our project address?
Diaspora have a role to play in solving social challenges in low and middle income countries besides sending money home. We aim to fully engage the untapped diaspora professionals with local communities through a digital platform of skills transfer. This is possible through collaboration and sharing of best practices and skills transfer to communities/countries of origins. In so doing, our digital platform could strengthen communities in low & middle income countries. Through our project we hope to encourage co-creation between local communities and diaspora professionals in solving challenging societal problems.
